Key Takeaways

1. Embrace the Divine Invitation: You are a Kingdom Ambassador

Jesus the Ambassador Magnificent has called us to become kingdom Ambassadors also – which will mean that we have to understand the protocol and culture of this place called Heaven.

Divine calling. Our Heavenly Father has extended a divine invitation to rule and reign with Jesus in His eternal Kingdom, a realm of righteousness, peace, and joy. This isn't just a spiritual concept; it's a call to active participation in "The Father's Business," for which we have been predestined and chosen. Jesus, the ultimate Ambassador of Heaven, serves as our pattern and map, demonstrating how to operate within this divine government.

New identity. Upon accepting this invitation and being baptized, we undergo a symbolic death to our old life and are raised as new creations, citizens of Heaven. This new identity means we are in the world but not of it, enjoying the rights and privileges of our heavenly citizenship while on earth. Our lifetime becomes our tour of duty as ambassadors for Christ, representing God's Kingdom in every aspect of our lives.

Heaven's representation. As ambassadors, our words and actions must reflect Heaven's opinion, not our own. We are called to establish "embassies" – our lives, churches, and ministries – where the atmosphere and laws of Heaven prevail, bringing healing and freedom to earth. Understanding and adhering to Heaven's protocol is crucial for effective representation, enabling us to negotiate, declare war, and legislate on behalf of our King.

2. Protocol is Heaven's Operating System, Not Earthly Rules

The Kingdom of God has protocol that is strictly adhered to.

Heavenly blueprint. Protocol, originally the "first leaf" describing a scroll's contents, outlines the parameters and rules governing diplomatic relations. This concept originates in Heaven, where God, an organized and specific God, has meticulously documented His plans for individuals, churches, cities, and nations in "books." Prophetic words and visions offer glimpses into these divine blueprints, revealed progressively as we seek Him.

Divine diplomacy. Just as earthly governments use protocol to interact without offense, Heaven operates with precise procedures. Michael the Archangel, when contending with the devil, understood and observed the required protocol, refusing to bring a railing accusation. This demonstrates that even in spiritual warfare, there are established rules of engagement that must be respected.

Consequences of breach. A breach of protocol, even if unintentional, is seen as a deliberate insult in the spiritual realm and can invite war or "backlash" from the enemy. Ignorance is not a defense; it is our duty as ambassadors to "study to show ourselves approved" and learn Heaven's ways. Understanding these protocols is essential for strategic spiritual warfare, ensuring our actions align with God's government and avoid inadvertently aiding the adversary.

3. Knowing God Intimately is the Foundation of All Kingdom Protocol

For this is eternal life, that they might know Thee…

Intimate knowledge. The starting place for understanding Kingdom protocol is an intimate, experiential knowledge of God, akin to the Hebrew word 'yadah' for sexual union. This deep relationship, not merely intellectual assent, is the source of eternal life and the wellspring from which all our works should flow. Without this intimacy, even impressive spiritual works may be disowned by Jesus, as He declared, "I never KNEW you."

Motive over action. God is not impressed by our gifts or the sheer volume of our works; He scrutinizes the motive behind them. Our primary desire should be to know Him and to please Him, ensuring that our actions carry His DNA and are birthed from our relationship with Him. This means dying to our own agendas and ambitions, allowing the "jealous fire of God" to purify our intentions.

Conforming to His world. Learning God's ways necessitates our transformation, not His. Just as one conforms to palace etiquette when visiting royalty, we must adjust our behavior and thinking to align with Heaven's culture. This commitment to change, rooted in love for the Father, is foundational to becoming effective ambassadors who bring Him pleasure and receive His endorsement.

4. Submit to God's Training and Learn His Specific Ways

It is the glory of God to conceal a thing, and the honour of kings is to search out a matter.

Active pursuit. God intentionally conceals certain mysteries, not to hide them, but to invite us, as kings, to diligently search them out. This requires effort, discipline, and a willingness to engage in God's training program. Just as Prince Charles was rigorously schooled for his royal position, we are called to submit to tutors, mentors, and various life experiences that prepare us for our Kingdom assignments.

Obedience through suffering. Our journey involves learning obedience through the things we suffer, mirroring Jesus' own path. This process demands dying to our own desires and agendas, embracing God's ways, and submitting to the correction and discipline of our teachers. It's a continuous discipline, shaping us to think and behave in a manner befitting a prince or princess of the realm.

Heart of the Father. Beyond mere instruction, we must cultivate an intimate relationship with the Father to understand His heart and motivations. This involves asking questions, spending time with Him, and allowing His opinions to reshape our own. Our ultimate goal is to bring Him pleasure, seeking His approval in all we do, knowing that anything done outside of His will, no matter how grand, is ultimately in vain.

5. Understand Your Sphere of Influence and Spiritual Rank

God has given each person a portion or sphere of influence over which they exert authority.

Defined boundaries. God sovereignly distributes to each person a "measure" or sphere of influence, an area over which they exert authority. This sphere can range from one's body and home to nations and regions, and it enlarges over time as we prove faithful in smaller responsibilities. Conversely, unfaithfulness can lead to a decrease in our assigned sphere.

Self-assessment. To operate effectively, we must diligently assess and understand the limits of our sphere. This involves knowing:

  • To whom you are called (specific nations, groups, or ministries).
  • Your primary and motivational gifts.
  • Your specific assignments or "garments" that fit you.
  • Your measure of faith, especially revealed in crisis.
  • Your patterns of success and natural strengths.
  • Your opponent and the territorial spirits in your sphere.
  • The supernatural revelation God gives you for your area.
  • Under whose authority you are submitted.

Respecting limits. Operating outside one's sphere of influence is a breach of protocol, akin to rearranging furniture in someone else's home without permission. This applies to spiritual contexts, such as visiting other churches or ministries and attempting to dictate vision, offer uninvited correction, or pray for people without the leadership's release. Understanding our sphere prevents us from taking on wars we are not mandated to fight, which can lead to spiritual imprisonment or suffering.

6. Acknowledge and Honor Delegated Authority for Kingdom Order

For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me.

God's order. God, as the ultimate King, has established authority structures in His Kingdom, mirroring the ranks seen among angels and even demons. In the church, He has "set some" in specific offices—first apostles, then prophets, teachers, and so on—indicating a divine order and different levels of authority and responsibility. While we are all equal in standing before God, we have different ranks and corresponding graces.

Centurion's faith. The Roman centurion, a man under authority, demonstrated "great faith" by understanding that Jesus' word carried the weight of Heaven's government. He knew that an order from a superior, even if delivered by a subordinate, originated from the highest authority. Similarly, when our leaders, who are themselves under authority, give instructions, we are to receive and carry them out as if directly from God, without needing to "re-pray" about them.

Submission and release. Our submission to delegated authority is crucial for credibility and power in the supernatural realm. This is not about control, but about divine order and protection. Just as parents release children into greater responsibility as they mature, apostolic authority aligns us with Heaven's will and releases us into our assignments. A healthy authority structure ensures that charismata (spiritual gifts) are released appropriately by domata (ruling gifts/offices), preventing chaos and maximizing Kingdom impact.

7. Heal from Past Wounds to Fully Embrace God's Authority Structures

We must not let our hurts cause us to turn against the truths of God and His ways.

Addressing abuse. While God's authority structures are divine, they have been misused by immature or insecure leaders, leading to deep wounds within the Body of Christ. This abuse, often stemming from a lack of love or exceeding one's God-ordained limits, does not nullify the validity of God's protocols. Instead, it highlights the need for healing and for teaching correct, godly protocol.

Navigating prophetic insight. Intercessors and prophetic individuals often receive privileged information about leaders or churches. The test of maturity lies in how this information is handled. Using it to rebel, gossip, or publicly rebuke without invitation, as Miriam and Aaron did against Moses, is a serious breach of protocol that God views as rebellion against His appointed authority. Such actions can lead to spiritual "leprosy" and hinder the flow of God's purposes.

Accountability and healing. True accountability involves submitting what we hear from God to our leaders for discernment and counsel before making decisions, especially on significant life changes. This process helps us learn to discern God's voice correctly and provides spiritual covering. Unhealed wounds, however, can manifest as a refusal to be accountable, leading to a "super-spiritual" pride where one believes they are only accountable to God, ultimately leading to religious error and spiritual danger. Allowing the Holy Spirit to heal these hurts is vital for maturity and wholeness.

8. Practice the Protocol of Coming In and Going Out in Every Sphere

You cannot just walk into a nation as if you are the first person to bring the gospel to that area.

Entering and exiting. As Kingdom ambassadors, every entry into or exit from a spiritual sphere—whether a local church, another ministry, a nation, or even a personal relationship—carries spiritual weight. At home in our local church, we must be planted, serve, love the people, and be accountable to leaders for our own protection and covering. When leaving, even for a short trip, we should be released with blessing and return with a report.

Honoring the gate. When visiting other "houses" or spheres of influence, we must always enter through a legitimate "gate"—an invitation from a person or ministry mandated to that area. To ignore existing works and ministries is to dishonor them and act like a "thief and a robber," presuming to be the first or only one to bring the gospel. Honoring the gate means respecting established leadership and their protocols, even if they are of a lower rank.

Serving and blessing. Our presence in another's sphere should always be a blessing, not a burden. We come to serve, aiming to edify, encourage, and uplift, making the host leader "look good." This means refraining from rearranging their "furniture" (criticizing or changing their vision), avoiding public rebukes unless specifically invited and delivered with deep love, and never taking on wars we are not mandated to fight. We must leave without incurring spiritual or financial debt, demonstrating spiritual manners that reflect well on our King.

9. Decree with Authority by Aligning with Heaven's Heart

Thou shalt also decree a thing and it shall be established unto thee, So light will shine upon thy ways.

Conditions for decreeing. The book of Job reveals a profound protocol for effective decreeing. Before we can decree a thing and expect it to be established, we must meet specific conditions:

  • Acquaint with Him: Develop an intimate relationship with God and be at peace, fully conformed to His will.
  • Receive His Law: Diligently seek and receive His instructions, meditating on them until they become part of our very being.
  • Return to the Almighty: Repent of our own ways and allow Him to build us into mature sons.
  • Put Away Iniquity: Remove all sin and embrace God as our ultimate delight, valuing Him above all else.
  • Pay Your Vows: Be faithful to fulfill every promise made to God.

Heaven's backing. Only when these conditions are met, when our hearts and words are fully aligned with the Father's, will Heaven put its full authority behind our decrees and prayers. Our words, then, will not be our own opinions but reflections of the Kingdom we serve, carrying the weight and power to accomplish change in the heavenlies and move mountains on earth.

Effective prayer. The ultimate desire of a Kingdom ambassador is for their prayers to be effective, extending Heaven's authority and restoring God's order on earth. This effectiveness is not achieved through mere technique or volume of prayer, but through a life of deep intimacy, obedience, and alignment with the Father's heart. To truly "know Him" is the foundational point of departure for all powerful, protocol-driven intercession and decreeing.
