Prayers That Heal the Heart

1. Heart Healing is for Everyone, Starting with Salvation.

The pre-requisite for healing the heart is that one has made Jesus Christ his or her Lord and Savior.

Universal need. Every individual, regardless of their spiritual journey, requires heart healing. This process is not merely for those with overt struggles but is a continuous journey of purification and re-dedication, akin to annual self-examinations practiced by figures like John Wesley and Jesuit priests. It ensures a stronger foundation for life, relationships, and ministry.

Foundational step. The absolute first step to heart healing is inviting Jesus Christ to be your Lord and Savior, receiving a new heart and spirit as promised in Ezekiel 36:26-27. This act fills the inherent hollowness within, reconnecting you to the divine flow and enabling a life of greater fullness and reward. Without this foundational prayer, subsequent healing efforts will be greatly hindered.

Lordship matters. Holding back from God's lordship invites continued problems and impedes healing. A sincere prayer of repentance, acknowledging Jesus' rightful place as Lord, washes away sin and restores fellowship through the Holy Spirit, allowing His effortless flow from deep within your heart. This is the gateway to eternal life and a transformed earthly existence.

2. Uncover the Seven Roots of Negative Spiritual Energies.

The negative energies within me are driven by the sin energies of the curse and/or demons.

Spiritual barometer. Our hearts are battlegrounds where divine and demonic energies contend. Negative sin energies manifest as doubt, fear, anger, guilt, and depression, aligning with Satan's destructive nature. Conversely, positive energies, empowered by God's blessing and the Holy Spirit, bring faith, hope, love, joy, and peace. A "barometric reading" of your heart reveals which forces are thriving.

Seven root causes. Negative spiritual energies often stem from specific, identifiable roots that create bondage. These are not merely personal failings but deeper spiritual issues that require targeted intervention. Understanding these roots is crucial for effective healing.

• Generational sins and curses: Inherited patterns of sin and their consequences.
• Ungodly soul ties: Unhealthy spiritual connections from relationships or sexual encounters.
• Negative expectations: Unconscious negative belief systems about self, others, or God.
• Inner vows: Promises made to oneself in response to hurts, reinforcing negative expectations.
• Traumas/negative pictures: Lingering mental images from painful events that generate sin energy.
• Demonization: Influence of spirit entities compounding existing problems.
• Enslavement to sin: Habitual failure to repent, creating a groove of continuous sin.

Beyond willpower. These sin energies cannot be overcome by mere willpower. They require a precise spiritual attack on their roots, guided by God's authority and understanding of spiritual laws. Identifying these roots provides the "road map for the heart" needed to navigate towards true freedom.

3. Apply Seven Integrated Prayers to Dismantle Spiritual Strongholds.

These prayers, when used together as a group, and in a sequential way, have proven to be powerfully effective in healing the hearts of man, and in releasing demons quickly and easily.

Integrated approach. Healing the heart requires a comprehensive, integrated approach that addresses all seven roots of negative energies. These seven prayers, when applied sequentially, dismantle the "demon's home" by removing its anchors and foundations, making deliverance swift and easy. This systematic method ensures thorough and lasting freedom.

The seven prayers:

1. Breaking generational sins and curses: Placing the Cross of Christ between you and ancestral sin patterns.
2. Severing ungodly soul ties: Cutting unhealthy spiritual connections from past relationships or sexual encounters.
3. Replacing negative expectations: Renouncing lies and embracing God's revealed truths.
4. Renouncing inner vows: Breaking self-made promises and establishing Spirit-empowered purposes.
5. Receiving divine pictures/visions: Inviting Jesus into traumatic memories to replace negative images with His presence and truth.
6. Casting out demons: Commanding evil spirits to leave after their anchors have been removed.
7. Experiencing the Law of the Spirit of Life: Overcoming sin by relying on the Holy Spirit's power, not self-effort.

Beyond ritual. While these prayers provide a structured framework, their effectiveness lies in being prayed "from the heart," not as rote formulas. Tuning into the Holy Spirit's flow, vision, and emotion ensures that the prayers are Spirit-anointed and truly engage the heart for deep healing.

4. Heal Your Heart by Speaking Its Language: Flow, Pictures, and Emotion.

The language of the heart is pictures, emotions, flow and faith.

Mind vs. Heart. The mind communicates through logical, analytical ideas, but the heart speaks a different language: spontaneous ideas, pictures, emotions, and a divine "flow." To truly heal the heart, we must engage it in its native tongue, moving beyond mere intellectual assent to a deep, experiential encounter with God.

Engaging the heart's senses. God designed us with five heart senses—ears to hear His voice, eyes to see His vision, a mind to ponder His thoughts, a will to guide our speech, and emotions to move us to action. Healing occurs when these senses are filled with God's presence, replacing negative influences with divine truth and power. This involves:

• Flow: Tuning into the spontaneous river of God within (John 7:37-39).
• Pictures/Vision: Actively looking for Jesus in traumatic memories, allowing Him to replace lies with truth (Acts 2:17).
• Emotions: Allowing God to fill our emotions with love, joy, and peace, rather than being driven by negative feelings.

Beyond rationalism. Our rationalistic culture often stunts our ability to perceive spiritual realities. Learning to quiet our minds, fix our gaze on Jesus, and receive spontaneous thoughts and visions is crucial. This "language of the heart" is how God intimately communes with us and brings profound, lasting transformation.

5. Thorough Forgiveness and Impassioned Repentance Are Non-Negotiable.

Without thorough, deep, and complete forgiveness, your healing will be incomplete.

Core of healing. Repentance and forgiveness are fundamental to heart healing, disarming demonic footholds and ushering in God's grace. Repentance involves a complete change of mind, emotions, and will, turning away from sin and towards God. This process removes the "foothold" Satan gains through unconfessed sin, as described in Ephesians 4:27.

Comprehensive forgiveness. True forgiveness extends beyond merely forgiving others. It encompasses:

• Confessing ancestral sins: Identifying with and repenting for the sins of previous generations (Leviticus 26:40).
• Forgiving others: Releasing those who have hurt you, freeing yourself from emotional slavery and bitterness (Mark 11:25).
• Forgiving yourself: Releasing self-condemnation for your own participation in sin.
• Forgiving God: Releasing any resentment towards God for allowing painful experiences.

Impassioned repentance. For stubborn sins, repentance must be impassioned, connecting enough pain to the sin to make it repulsive and enough pleasure to righteousness to make it desirable. This involves creating vivid, detailed pictures of the devastation caused by sin (e.g., lust, pornography) and the profound blessings of righteous living (e.g., pure marital love). This deepens conviction and fuels a profound desire for change.

6. Follow a Structured Process for Deep and Lasting Healing.

Seven-step journey. A structured, yet Spirit-led, process guides individuals through comprehensive heart healing. This systematic approach ensures that all contributing factors to a heart issue are addressed, leading to complete and lasting freedom. It transforms a vague desire for change into actionable steps.

The healing steps:

2. Assume all approaches: Recognize that all seven healing prayer approaches are likely needed for each major heart issue.

7. Cultivate a Healed Heart into an Anointed and Empowered Life.

As one’s heart is healed through the power of God, the Holy Spirit of God who resides deep within provides an anointing and a divine charge to all one thinks, does, believes, and experiences.

Beyond neutrality. A healed heart doesn't simply become neutral; it becomes a vessel charged with divine anointing, overflowing with God's faith, hope, love, peace, power, and joy. There are no neutral spiritual areas; what is not filled with God will quickly be filled with negative influences. Therefore, actively filling your heart with the Holy Spirit is crucial to prevent backsliding.

Five heart senses filled. God desires to fill all five senses of our hearts—conception (hearing God's voice), incubation (seeing God's vision, pondering His thoughts, guiding our speech with His will, and moving to action with His emotions), and ultimately, birth (His miraculous power flowing through us). This process transforms us into conduits of His supernatural life.

Abraham's example. Abraham, the father of faith, exemplifies this empowered lifestyle:

• Hears God's Promise: Receives divine instruction (Genesis 12:1-3).
• Sees God's Promise: Gains a vision that deepens his faith (Genesis 15:5-6).
• Ponders God's Promise: Chooses to believe despite natural impossibilities (Romans 4:20-21).
• Speaks God's Promise: Confesses God's truth even before its physical manifestation (Genesis 17:5).
• Acts on God's Promise: Demonstrates instant obedience (Genesis 17:23).
• Waits in Faith: Trusts God to fulfill His word in His timing (Genesis 21:1-2).

This divine pattern leads to a heart so permeated with God that it becomes a Spirit-anointed world-changer, bringing life out of death.

8. Counselors Must Be Spirit-Led, Not Mechanically Driven.

Every healer must be led by the anointing of the Holy Spirit as he releases the power of God through the avenues of faith, hope and love.

Holy Spirit's guidance. Effective prayer ministry counseling is characterized by its reliance on the Holy Spirit's flow, vision, and emotion, rather than rigid adherence to mechanical formulas. While a structured process is provided, the counselor must remain constantly open to divine guidance, allowing the Holy Spirit to reveal specific issues and direct the order and depth of prayers.

Integrated, intensive approach. This counseling model uniquely integrates all seven healing prayer approaches into a single, intensive session, typically lasting three hours. Instead of addressing issues piecemeal over weeks, the focus is on dismantling a demon's "home" for one specific heart issue in one session. This rapid, comprehensive approach often yields dramatic breakthroughs.

Counselor prerequisites:

• Personal walk: Must be a born-again believer, diligently growing in the Lord.
• Hearing God: Proficient in hearing God's voice and seeing divine vision.
• Dream interpretation: Skilled in interpreting dreams for deeper insight.
• Anointing & experience: Operates out of the Holy Spirit's anointing with substantial background in these prayer areas.
• Personal healing: Has personally processed their own heart issues using these methods.
• Teamwork: Ideally works in a team (e.g., right-brain prophet and left-brain teacher) for balanced ministry.
• Biblical discernment: Possesses revelation knowledge of God's Word to discern truth from falsehood.

Focus on prayer. Most of the session is dedicated to prayer, with the counselor drawing out issues through Holy Spirit-led questions and immediately moving into targeted prayers. This minimizes rehashing pain and maximizes divine intervention.

9. Dreams and Biblical Meditation Are Vital for Ongoing Revelation.

Indeed God speaks once, or twice, yet no one notices it. In a dream, a vision of the night, when sound sleep falls on man, while they slumber in their beds, then he opens the ears of men, and seals their instruction.

God's nightly counsel. Dreams are a primary way God communicates, offering wisdom and instruction for our lives (Psalm 16:7). They reveal underlying heart issues, potential pitfalls, and areas needing repentance, often before they manifest as physical sickness or persistent sin. Learning to recall and interpret dreams is a vital skill for ongoing personal healing and spiritual growth.

Principles of dream interpretation:

• Symbolic: Most dreams are symbolic, requiring a shift to symbolic thinking.
• Personal: Symbols are personal; ask "What does this mean to me?"
• Current concerns: Dreams often reflect current heart concerns.
• Witnessing heart: The dreamer's heart will "witness" to the correct interpretation.
• Confirmation: Never make major decisions based solely on a dream without additional confirmation.

Biblical meditation. Beyond casual Bible study, biblical meditation is a whole-brain and heart process that yields illumination and revelation knowledge. It involves:

• Cleansing: Repenting and being cleansed by Jesus' blood.
• Teachable attitude: Maintaining humility before God.
• Yielding faculties: Presenting mind and imagination to God for His Spirit to fill.
• Pondering: Slowing down, mulling over scripture, and praying for revelation.
• Focused purpose: Seeking specific solutions to problems.
• Giving glory: Acknowledging God as the source of all insights.

These practices ensure a continuous flow of divine revelation, essential for sustained healing and empowerment.

10. Embrace Accountability and Fences for Stubborn Sins.

Confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, so that you may be healed.

Beyond personal prayer. For stubborn or persistent sins that resist the initial seven prayers and impassioned repentance, additional steps are necessary. These involve external support and proactive measures to fortify one's resolve and environment. This acknowledges that some battles require community and strategic defense.

Accountability relationships. Confessing persistent sins to a close, trusted spiritual friend or elder is a powerful step towards healing (James 5:14-16). This brings darkness into light, weakening its power, provides wise counsel, and multiplies prayer power. It's crucial to choose friends who will offer support and strength, not judgment.

• Purpose: To overcome severe, persistent sins, especially those leading to sickness.
• Benefits: Increased light on the sin, wise counsel, multiplied prayer power.
• Caution: Choose friends carefully; avoid legalistic or judgmental individuals.

Establishing fences. God instructs us to build "fences" around ourselves to reduce susceptibility to temptation. These are proactive boundaries designed to avoid situations that trigger sin. Like Hosea praying for a hedge of thorns around Gomer, we create safeguards to steer clear of evil.

• Examples: Avoiding certain places, media, or relationships that lead to temptation.
• Purpose: To flee youthful lusts and prevent re-engagement with sin patterns.

These measures, combined with ongoing spiritual practices, provide a robust defense against relapse and ensure complete freedom from life-dominating problems.

11. Extend Healing to Ancestors, Children, Land, and Institutions.

If parents have received deliverance and broken off generational sins, they will now need to see that their children are ministered to, also.

Generational impact. The principles of heart healing extend beyond the individual to impact families, land, and even institutions. Just as generational sins can be passed down, so too can the blessings of healing and deliverance be extended to future generations and broader spheres of influence. This holistic view recognizes the interconnectedness of spiritual realities.

Healing for families:

• Parents praying for children: Parents who have experienced healing should identify generational sins in their family lines and pray for their children, leading them through the healing prayers.
• Proxy prayer: Parents can pray in proxy for young children, breaking curses and casting out demons that may be affecting them.
• Addressing specific issues: For miscarried/aborted children, or unwanted children, address associated spirits of rejection or attachment to the next-born.

Healing for land and institutions:

• Cursed ground: Land, homes, businesses, congregations, and even nations can carry curses due to sin (Genesis 3:17, Jeremiah 4:10-12).
• Cleansing: Apply the seven prayers to these entities, identifying and repenting of associated sins, cutting soul ties, and breaking curses.
• Anointing: Consecrate and anoint these areas with oil, inviting the Holy Spirit's presence and blessing.
• Pulling down principalities: For cities, research historical sins and principalities, then pray through the seven prayers collectively to dismantle spiritual strongholds.

This expansive application of healing prayers ensures that God's redemptive power permeates every aspect of life, bringing transformation and blessing to all that is touched.
