William Warren Bartley, III (1934-1990) was an American philosopher who built a distinguished academic career across multiple prestigious institutions.
After earning his doctorate, he lectured in logic in London before holding positions at the Warburg Institute and University of California, San Diego.
He received his first full professorship at University of Pittsburgh in 1969, where he'd taught since 1963.
In 1973, he joined California State University, Hayward as Professor of Philosophy, earning "Outstanding Professor" honors for the entire CSU system in 1979.
His final position was Senior Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution.
