Monique Roffey
Monique Roffey is an award-winning British-Trinidadian author known for her contemporary fiction.
Her novel "The Mermaid of Black Conch" won the Costa Book of the Year Award in 2020 and was shortlisted for several other prestigious literary prizes.
Roffey's works often explore themes related to Caribbean culture and history.
She has received numerous accolades throughout her career, including nominations for the Orange Prize and Costa Novel Award.
In addition to her writing, Roffey serves as a Professor of Contemporary Fiction at Manchester Metropolitan University.
