Michelle Rahurahu (Ngaati Rahurahu, Ngaati Tahu-Ngaati Whaoa) is a New Zealand writer raised by taangata turi — Deaf people.
She served as co-editor of Te Rito o te Harakeke, an anthology of Māori voices supporting Ihumaatao.
Rahurahu holds a Masters in Creative Writing from the International Institute of Modern Letters (IIML), where she was awarded the Modern Letters Fiction Prize.
Her debut novel, Poorhara, was shortlisted for the prestigious Michael Gifkins Prize, announcing her as a significant new voice in New Zealand literature exploring culture, identity, and the enduring impacts of colonisation.
