Lê Thi Diem Thúy is a Vietnamese-American author and performance artist.
Born in Vietnam, she immigrated to the United States with her father in 1978 at age six, settling in San Diego.
Thúy later attended Hampshire College in Massachusetts, graduating in 1993.
She has created a one-woman show called "Red Fiery Summer" and completed a fellowship at Radcliffe.
Her experiences as a refugee and immigrant inform her writing, which often explores themes of displacement and cultural identity.
Thúy is currently working on her second novel, "The Bodies Between Us," while continuing her career in performance art.
