Jean Kwok
Jean Kwok is an acclaimed author known for her bestselling novels that explore the immigrant experience and cultural identity.
Born in Hong Kong, she immigrated to Brooklyn at age five and worked in a Chinatown clothing factory during her childhood.
Kwok graduated from Harvard University and earned an MFA from Columbia University.
Her works, including "Girl in Translation" and "Searching for Sylvie Lee," have been published in twenty countries and are taught in schools worldwide.
Kwok has received numerous honors for her writing, including the American Library Association Alex Award.
She currently divides her time between the Netherlands and New York City.
