Cara Chow
Cara Chow was born in Hong Kong and raised in San Francisco's Richmond district.
Her debut novel, Bitter Melon, draws inspiration from her own experiences attending an all-girls' Catholic high school and participating in speech competitions.
Chow's background as a first-generation Chinese-American informs her writing, which explores themes of cultural identity and family dynamics.
In 2001, she was selected as a PEN Emerging Voices Fellow, recognizing her potential as an emerging writer.
Currently residing in the Los Angeles area with her husband and son, Chow continues to write and draw from her personal experiences to create compelling narratives that resonate with readers.
