أفول باكير جينولابدين عبد الكلام كان عالماً هندياً بارزاً ورئيس الهند الحادي عشر.
عُرف بلقب "رجل الصواريخ في الهند" نظراً لدوره الحيوي في تطوير برامج الفضاء والصواريخ الهندية.
عمل عبد الكلام مع منظمة الأبحاث والدفاع الهندية (DRDO) ومنظمة أبحاث الفضاء الهندية (ISRO)، حيث قاد مشاريع مهمة مثل القمر الصناعي SLV-3 وتطوير الصواريخ الباليستية.
كان له دور محوري في اختبارات الهند النووية، ونال العديد من الجوائز والتكريمات، من بينها وسام بهارات راتنا.
ألف عبد الكلام عدة كتب، واشتهر بمساهماته في مجالات العلم والتعليم وتحفيز الشباب.
خلال فترة رئاسته من 2002 إلى 2007، حظي بلقب "رئيس الشعب".
توفي عبد الكلام عام 2015، مخلفاً إرثاً عظيماً من الإنجازات العلمية والخدمة العامة.
